Shaklee Partners With U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding

Shaklee Corporation, the leading natural nutrition company in the United States, is the official nutrition supplier for the U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding throughout their training for the 2010 Games in Vancouver, continuing a relationship that began in 1980. Founded in 1956, Shaklee has been supporting elite athletes for decades -- more than 54 gold medals have been awarded to Shaklee-powered world-class athletes.

"We currently use these products to enhance the hydration status and energy requirements of our athletes' demanding training schedules and busy lifestyles," says Troy Flanagan, Director of Sport Science for the U.S. Ski and Snowboarding Association, the national governing body for the U.S. ski and snowboarding teams. "Shaklee nutritional supplements are the only choice for us and are proving to be critical to our preparation for the 2010 Games!"
Flanagan says Shaklee products are instrumental in allowing the teams to perform at a high level in very rigorous conditions.

"U.S. Ski Team athletes travel four to five months straight each year, flying to winter conditions in many different countries throughout the world. Shaklee's NutriFeron(R) helps boost their immune systems* as they push through jet lag, drastic temperature changes, tough training, and the stress of competition," he says.

The U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding use a broad assortment of Shaklee supplements, including Vitalizer for overall health and wellness, NutriFeron and Defend & Resist Complex for immune support, Cinch(R) for healthy weight management, Shaklee Performance(R) for hydration and endurance, Physique(R) for post workout recovery, Joint Health Complex for healthy joints, Joint & Muscle Pain Cream for after those grueling workouts, and many others.*
Shaklee products are supported by over 90 Shaklee peer-reviewed scientific papers and are available only through Shaklee Distributors.

"At the U.S. Ski and Snowboarding Association (USSA), we make sure that the supplements that our athletes competing in the 2010 Games are taking are extremely safe and reliable," Flanagan says. "That's why USSA athletes are only provided with Shaklee products, which are manufactured to the highest standards."

Shaklee is proud to be the official nutritional sponsor of the U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding, a relationship that began over 29 years ago and has since provided the nutritional fuel that helped support the teams in winning 10 medals in the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, Italy, and is currently helping to power the ski team and snowboarders in preparation for the 2010 Games in Vancouver.

Met a Man Today....

Today Bruce and I met a Gentleman who saw our Shaklee Distributor sign on the truck and asked if Shaklee still had a Protein Mix. I told him I honestly had not personally used the protein mix but knew it exsisted. So we gave him a card with the web site so he could go online and shop. He liked the idea about being able to see all the catalog and knew all about saving 15% if he became a "member" which he is considering (he used to be a distributor years ago!) So anyway long story short I did some research about "Shaklee Instant Protein Soy Mix" to educate myself and here is alittle of the information I found. However there is a ton more information and recipes I can hook you up with if you are interested. Let me know after you have digested this snippet of knowledge:

Soy and Bone Health
Americans typically think of dairy products as the best
source of calcium, but there are many other good sources
of calcium. In fact, Shaklee Instant Protein Soy Mix is an
excellent source of dietary calcium, providing 35% of the
daily value of this important nutrient per serving.
Protein from soy may also offer bone-health advantages by
replacing sources of animal protein in the diet. For long
term bone health, calcium intake is only part of the story.
Urinary calcium loss is another factor that contributes to a
negative calcium balance. High consumption of animal
proteins, because they are high in sulfur amino acids, appear
to be responsible for this effect.2 Soy protein, which have
less sulfur amino acids relative to meat and other animal
protein sources, may result in less calcium being lost in the
urine and help keep calcium in the skeleton. In one study,
calcium excretion was found to be 30% lower when
dietary protein from soy sources were compared to equal
amounts of protein from beef, fish, and chicken in healthy
adults consuming a constant amount of calcium.3

Endocrinology and Metabolism 1988; 66:140–146.

Winter Poll

So how's your winter going? This morning I did a Shaklee Get Clean sale at the regular Saturday "Crafts" sale at the RV park we are currently visiting. And all things are relative. Because of the large attendance, I was unable to get an inside table and had to setup outside in a courtyard. It was a beautiful morning, but not to stand or sit outside for three hours! Yes, it was not raining nor snowing and for that I was thankful. However I would have liked to be inside in a warm temp and without a breeze! Hence the poll questions. It was not very many weeks ago we were in Colorado and in freezing temps. Please take the poll and by all means, comment on your winter.

Fresh start... and getting "Scoured"!

Hello. Sometimes we all need a fresh start right? Well I’ve had some troubles since I last posted ranging from freezing sewer, illness, and computer woes. I’m not making excuses mind you, just wanted you to know why I’ve been absent.
Through it all however I have taken my Vitalizer daily and I truly know that helped me over the seasonal illness bump quicker. And I’m still making smoothies and now I’m back to walking so those things have also help me with energy, weight management, and stress.

Now that I am on a more even keel I’ve even had the opportunity to visit with new friends about Shaklee products. In particular the GET CLEAN line. Get Clean is Shaklee’s line of household products and what came up with these new friends I mention is the Scour Off Heavy Duty Paste. I am currently in Casa Grande Arizona and the water here leaves mineral spots like you would not believe, even with water treatment systems in place. Scour Off has many uses, but these customers were primarily interested in removing the water spots/mineral build up from their glass shower doors. It works beautifully and they are quite pleased as you may imagine. Here are some other highlights for Scour Off:

 Natural ingredients remove the toughest stuck=on messes without harsh chemicals.
 Great for tough cleaning jobs, inside and out.
 Safe on a variety of surfaces including sinks, tile, grout, ovens, ovenproof glass, stovetops, ceramic tiles, porcelain sinks, and baked enamel.

Thanks for reading and the opportunity for a fresh start! You can get me via cell or email. 970-250-4296 and staciabrethen@yahoo.com Scour Off™ Heavy Duty Paste
Here’s an exclusive scouring cleanser
that sets a new standard.
It even cleans burnt-on food in your oven.
And doesn’t burn off your nose hairs in the process.

post Thanksgiving thoughts...

It is hard for me to believe that it is December 1st! I realized today in somewhat of a panic that I am not ready for Christmas. By that I mean, decorating, gifts, cards, baking, etc… I am looking forward to doing a lot of Christmas baking with my Grandma this year that will be fun. However it is not scheduled yet!

Today I wanted to review the Thanksgiving poll we did. Our polls at this site are for fun. They certainly are not scientific but an easy way for people to chime in. We would really appreciate your sharing our site each month with your friends and family and asking them to participate in that month’s poll. And if a little “healthy” information rubs off on them, well that is always a good thing! OK so we are just getting rolling with establishing a monthly poll. We had 7 votes in November; let’s make a larger splash in December!

42% voted they would be having a Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner
57% voted they would be having a Modified Traditional Dinner

All other categories were 0 votes

Reviewing the poll also returns my thoughts to my post on “Beating the Holiday Weight Gain Blues.” I personally feel and the scales say that I am a few pounds heavier now than the lst of November. I am fighting that fact face on and even though I did walk some in November it wasn‘t enough and my plan is to make exercise a December requirement. I know, I’ve already stated all my other Christmas things are yet undone, however I know I’ll feel better and get more done when I feel good and take care of myself. Make a reasonable goal and schedule it. My reasonable goal is to exercise 3 times a week between now and Christmas. Monday, Wednesday and Friday works for me. If I can get a walk in on Tuesdays and Thursdays I will, but if there is not time, I’m not going to stress about it because I’m meeting my primary goal. My M-W-F routine is a favorite aerobics DVD. (The weather becomes a non-issue!) What is your favorite exercise? And please share your ideas for exercise routines during especially busy times.

Smiles,

Stacia
